Plantar fasciitis (PF) is a painful inflammatory process of the plantar fascia, the flat band of tissue (ligament) that connects your heel bone to your toes. It supports the arch of your foot. It is often caused by overuse of the plantar fascia or arch tendon of the foot. It is a very common condition and can be difficult to treat if not looked after properly.
If you strain your plantar fascia, it gets weak, swollen, and inflamed. Then your heel or the bottom of your foot hurts when you stand or walk.
